Bergen Engines Chosen for Advanced Eco-Friendly Vessels

Bergen Engines is supplying four short-sea Multi-Purpose Vessels (MPVs), which will be built at Huanghai Shipyard in China. This contract marks a major milestone in the collaboration between Bergen Engines, Skarv Shipping, and LMG Marin, all based in Bergen, Norway. Owned by Skarv Shipping and designed by LMG Marin, these ships represent a new era in sustainable maritime transport, reflecting the combined expertise and innovation of the Bergen-based maritime community.

Each vessel will be powered by Bergen’s C25:33L6A generator sets, designed for reliable performance, simplified maintenance and cost-effective operation. The Bergen C25:33L includes variable valve timing that guarantees optimal efficiency and transient performance, even during part-load operation, while maintaining low emissions. Additionally, the generator sets will feature variable speed technology to optimize fuel consumption; valuable for reducing operational costs and lowering emissions.

Reliable Performance in Demanding Environments

Delivered in 2015, The Samskip Kvitnos is a highly versatile and efficient Ro-Ro vessel. The 120-TEU vessel remains fully operational, and with a deadweight tonnage of 5000 metric tons, Kvitnos accommodates a broad spectrum of cargo, including rolling stock, breakbulk and vehicles.

Powered by Bergen’s B35:40L9PG, the propulsion system supports a service speed of 18.6 knots, delivering reliable performance across demanding routes. As part of Samskip’s broader sustainability ambitions, Kvitnos also represents a platform for future low-emission and alternative-fuel technologies.

Dependable Performance for Heavy-Lift Operations

Hua Xing Long, delivered in 2018, is a state-of-the-art semi-submersible heavy-lift vessel designed to transport oversized and ultra-heavy cargo. Built by China Merchants Heavy Industry, the vessel combines robust deck capacity with precision ballast and submersion systems, enabling safe and efficient handling of challenging offshore and industrial loads.

The vessel is powered by Bergen B33:45L6A engines, delivering reliable medium-speed propulsion for long transits and heavy-lift operations. These engines provide stable performance under variable loads, high fuel efficiency, and low emissions, ensuring maximum operational uptime.

Hua Xing Long supports complex logistics projects worldwide, with Bergen Engines enabling dependable, precise, and environmentally responsible performance, making the vessel a trusted asset in heavy-lift and offshore transportation.
