Bergen Engines AS builds iconic medium-speed liquid fuelled and gas fuelled reciprocating engines for marine and land based applications.

Our engines can be found operating in some of the most demanding and hostile environments on earth, both on land and at sea.

Today, not only do we build the finest medium speed engines available, Bergen also supplies generator sets, provides modular power generating plants and partners for complete turn-key microgrid power solutions.

Bergen have built over 7,000 of their iconic medium-speed engines since 1946. Over half of them are still in service today.

Bergen Engines AS is owned by the British engineering and industrial group, Langley Holdings plc. The company was acquired from Rolls-Royce plc on 31 December 2021.

The largest power plant currently powered by multiple Bergen engines is 200MW. The company has recently been awarded a contract to build a 300MW plant in Russia.

Established in 1855, Bergen has been building high quality medium speed engines near the city of Bergen, in Norway, since 1946.

Since then the company has built over 7,000 of its iconic liquid fuelled and gas fuelled engines, of which over half are still in service today. Such is the quality and reliability of a Bergen engine.

Formerly Rolls-Royce Bergen Engines AS since 1999, the company was acquired by the British engineering and industrial group, Langley Holdings plc, from Rolls-Royce plc on 31 December, 2021.

History

Established as a pure engine manufacturer in 1943, Bergen Engines delivered its first engine in 1946.

The company built a new factory in 1971 at Hordvikneset, north of Bergen, and was acquired by Langley Holdings PLC December 2021.

Our Facilities

Every Bergen engine built is manufactured at our factory in Hordvikneset, near Bergen, in Norway.

Our well-invested facilities are situated on a 23 hectares (50 acres) freehold site and extend to over 20,000 square metres (2,000,000 square feet) of production and office accommodation.
