BERGEN, NORWAY – Bergen Engines, a leading provider of medium-speed marine propulsion solutions, has been selected to deliver its cutting-edge B33:45V12P propulsion engine for the latest vessel commissioned by the Klondyke Fishing Company in Scotland. The vessel, named ‘Chris Andra,’ will be designed and built by the renowned shipyard Karstensens Skibsværft in Denmark, marking the 6th collaboration between Bergen Engines and the shipyard in the past year.

The heart of ‘Chris Andra’ will be the Bergen B33:45V12P propulsion engine, a powerful and efficient medium-speed engine known for its reliability and benefits in the fishing industry. The low vibration and structural noise level, paired with a compact modular design, makes this engine an easy decision for a variety of applications. In line with the company’s commitment to sustainability, the engine will be paired with a Marelli Motori MJRM 710 MA6 Shaft Generator, optimizing energy usage on the vessel.

Commenting on the project, Naval Architect and Director of Karstensens Skibsværft, Kent Damgaard said, “We are happy to continue the cooperation with Bergen Engines. Bergen has proven itself as a reliable business partner delivering quality products, which aligns well with the requirements from ship owners and the yard.”

The new vessel will operate along the same pattern as Klondyke’s existing vessels, where crew safety and quality of catches are of primary importance, complimented by modern designs and low exhaust emissions. As the demand for sustainable marine solutions continues to rise, ‘Chris Andra’ stands as a testament to the industry’s dedication to responsible practices. The vessel’s advanced propulsion system and eco-friendly design position it as a leader in the evolving landscape of maritime operations.

Measuring an impressive 75.8 meters in length, ‘Chris Andra’ is classified as a pelagic trawler and is set to join Klondyke Fishing Company’s fleet in July 2026. The Klondyke Fishing Company is owned and headed by well-known Tait family of Fraserburgh.
